Tonya Stadlman — for State Representative, 44th LD, Position 2
I'm a community leader, housing professional, and proud Washingtonian with over 30 years of experience working alongside families, seniors, and local communities. I've watched Olympia spend more every year while public safety, affordability, and our basic systems have gotten worse. I'm running because the families of the 44th deserve a representative who pairs lived experience with practical reform, and who isn't afraid to demand accountability for the money we're already paying.
Accountability First. Recovery Focused.

Washington’s challenges didn’t happen overnight, and they won’t be fixed with more promises, more spending, or the same old approach.
Six to Fix is my plan to focus on what matters most and measure government by results. Make life more affordable. Create housing people can afford. Build safer communities. Help businesses thrive. Build people, not programs. Protect kids and respect parents.
It starts with a simple standard: Audit Before Ask. Measure the Results. Put People Over Politics.
Six priorities. A clear direction.
A brighter Washington is possible.
Protect. Restore. Lead.

The Problem: Washington families are feeling squeezed by the cumulative cost of taxes, fees, fuel, utilities, housing, and everyday necessities.
My Fix: First, reduce costs that hit household budgets directly, starting with the gas tax. Before asking Washingtonians for more, audit where the money is going, measure results, and demand accountability for the dollars taxpayers already provide.

The Problem: The cost of land, permitting, regulations, utilities, fees, insurance, financing, labor, and materials all add up to the final cost of a home or monthly rent.
My Fix: Reduce unnecessary barriers, speed up permitting, encourage more starter homes and diverse housing choices, and protect the housing we already have. After 30 years in housing, my approach is simple: you cannot make housing more affordable by making housing more expensive to build, own, and operate.

The Problem: Communities are dealing with repeat crime, addiction, behavioral-health challenges, and a system that too often fails victims while cycling people through crisis.
My Fix: Be SMART, not simply soft or hard. That means accountability for dangerous behavior, support for law enforcement, consequences for repeat offenders, and treatment and recovery when addiction or behavioral health is driving the cycle.

The Problem: Taxes, regulations, rising operating costs, and Washington’s gross-receipts B&O tax can make it increasingly expensive to operate and grow a business.
My Fix: Reduce unnecessary barriers and costs, examine reforms to the B&O tax, and create an environment where businesses can invest, hire, and expand. I want Washington to be a state where businesses come, stay, grow, and hire.

The Problem: Spending more money or creating another program doesn't automatically solve the problem. Measure success by whether people are actually moving toward stability, recovery, employment, and independence.
My Fix: Audit programs, measure outcomes, and invest in approaches that demonstrate results. Pair housing with treatment and recovery when needed, and make independence the goal. Compassion should have a compass.

The Problem: Parents should never feel excluded from their child's education. Our schools should partner with families, protect students' opportunities, and keep the classroom focused on preparing children for a successful future.
I believe we need to get back to the fundamentals: strong academics, safe classrooms, transparency, accountability, and an education system that equips every child with the knowledge and skills to succeed.
My Fix: I will fight to restore and protect parental rights and ensure parents have access to important information about their children's education and well-being.
I want our education policy centered on a straightforward goal: create classrooms designed to prepare our children for a brighter future.
Strong academics. Safe schools. Parents respected. Opportunities protected. Students prepared.
